Fire above Fairview
This sucks. My family has a cabin above Fairview. Additionally, that country has been phenomenal for wind surfing (in the winter), snow mobiling, ATV'ing and fishing. I'm hopeful something will be left along the Skyline Drive. Such awesome country and such a shame that its all burning down now.
Heard that US6 to US89 all the way South of Fairview has been evacuated and is possibly in fire danger!
Updated to add: One person now reported as dead in that area!

Yeah this fire stuff is nuts. Sorry to hear about the cabin Brute. I've ridden my motorcycle in that area and it has some great trails.
Those poor folks in Colorado...

Colorado Springs..........
Life's journey is not to arrive safely at the Grave in a well preserved body; but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, ...Holy Shit... What A Ride!

Brute the fire is on the west side of 89 for now. Not near Skyline although Fairview is evacuated.

The Wood Hollow fire is west and north of Fairview (ask me how I know...)
The Seeley Fire is South and East of Fairview... up on the plateau (started near Miller Flat Res)
That one has the potential to be HUGE.

That area of the Seeley fire is just gorgeous. I hope they get a handle on it soon.

Here's an excerpt from the release they put out last night...
Extreme fire behavior and long-range spotting occurred overnight, with the fire perimeter estimated to have grown 14,500 acres in one day. Extreme drought conditions, bark-beetle-killed trees, strong gusty and unpredictable winds are still driving the fire.

Seems huge tracts of land up and down the State are on fire. I'm hoping folks don't get stupid and start fireworks.. but I know it's wishful thinking. Once the beer/booze start flowing, the fires will be prolific!
