I have not been there lately, but I have been there in a dry year.
It was hot, and dry. As in, on July 4th weekend, there was ZERO water in the Chute of Muddy Creek, which kinda made it not a very good hike.
Those Cedar Gnats tend to be out there, this time of year.
In the past, when I have been out there in the middle of summer, we got up at 3 am to do canyons and BARELY made it back to camp (9 am) in time to avoid heatstroke. The best place to camp might be INSIDE Tomsich Butte, inside the coolness of the mine. Not sure breathing the air in there is good for your health. Since I am like 100 years old, it is not so much of an issue for me.
May I suggest Zion as a more-desirable location, these days. Or the Uintahs. or the Tetons.

Alternatives to the Chute in the same general area are Black Box or Sulphur Creek, though camping will still be warm. Sulphur Creek should be perfect now. It was actually a little chilly a few weeks ago.
Utah is a very special and unique place. There is no where else like it on earth. Please take care of it and keep the remaining wild areas in pristine condition. The world will be a better place if you do.

Haha thats awesome... not a bad idea I guess, at least there's shade.... bring your own oxygen though
Some buddys and I hiked into that mine a ways and when we came out, between the dust and the radiation, we were pretty sure that we'd shortened our lifespan by 10 years.
