Goblin Lair, Hogwarts, East Fork of Leprechaun
Made another overnight trip to the North Wash, to introduce a few new comers to the sport. Our first stop was Goblin Valley to do the rappel into Goblin’s Lair. We started the hike across the land of Goblins around 1:00pm so the temperatures were nice and hot. When we reached the rappel point into Goblins Lair we were surprised at the beauty of the Lair. Three of us were comfortable with the rappel but one in our party hadn’t rappelled in 7 years so you can imagine the nervousness she was experiencing looking down into the unknown.
The webbing was in good shape so the rope was placed and down we went. Everyone thought the rappel was awesome and plan on coming back again. It was so much cooler inside the Lair that we didn’t want to leave but we knew we had too, so we started the hot hike back to the parking lot.
Our second stop was the Hog springs parking area to do Hogwarts. Again the hike up to the start of the canyon was nice and hot but we knew the canyon would be in the shade. All the anchors and webbing were in good shape and of course the canyon was dry. This was my second time down this canyon and I’m sure I will be bringing more family members through it because of all of the beauty in a small package.
The second day we were up early so we could do the east fork of Leprechaun before it got too hot. Again I’m sure everyone knows but the canyon was dry. This was only the second canyon for one person in our group and she was amazed at how narrow this canyon was compared to Hogwarts. We took our time in the canyon and of course enjoyed the beauty of it and took plenty of pictures.
The biting flies were not bad the first evening but walking from the highway entrance to Leprechaun to the Sandthrax campsight was almost unbearable without repellent.
Now the new comers know why this in not a summer sport.
Still haven't figured out the photo attachment so the picturs are in random order.

Thanks for the report: Lep photos remind me of last Sat. The mention of the unbearable flies surprises me. We had almost no trouble with them.
but it was breezy/windy. Lucky, I guess
