    I'm retiring from canyoneering

    ......barefoot.

My cousin and I were taking out his friend for the first time yesterday. She wanted to make sure she was prepared, and ready for the adventure of her life. We got her geared up, and ready to roll... or so i thought. Turns out we forgot one pair of felt bottomed shoes (nothing works better on algae covered slick rock). So my cousin gave her his, while I gave mine to my cousin (I have the toughest feet of the group for walking barefoot).

Walking through somewhat thorny ferns, and rough lava rock kinda made my feet sting. Especially while on rappel.. all you'd hear is "ouch.. shit.. ow..". Though I was thoroughly impressed that my feet didn't get any cuts. In fact, there's barely any abrasions as well, considering they're supporting my 220lb fat ass. Maybe we can use the calluses on my feet for a rope design?

Anyways, it turned out to be a successful fun day yesterday. Our friend is now hooked, and I think becoming one of the newest canyoneers on the island

You guys are some tough MoFo's.

You have helmets on so you're keeping off the radar of the bogley helmet police. Not sure if we have shoe police on here.

Knowing me, I don't ever neeed a helmet, considering i have such a hard head. However, the helmet does make me look cool, and at least you could keep track of where I'm at in the waterfall in higher water.

Haha awesome TR! Going without shoes is hardcore.
Your safety is not my responsibility.
