Thread: A great day in American Fork Canyon

A great day in American Fork Canyon

Mtn Seeker, Accadacca, Fortycal and myself did some EPIC riding in AF Canyon yesterday. Mtn Seeker and I started at 1pm and did a 3.5 hr loop, then hooked up with Acca and Fortycal for another 4 hr loop.
We came off the Mtn in the dark, and one of us was without light, so we had to escort from the front and rear. Sorry Seeker, I know that sounds bad!!
The area is spectacular, and mostly dry. If you like Mtn Riding with a few extremes, this is the place!! Here are some photos of the ride:

I just dropped by to see what condition my condition is in.

I'm so damn tired I can't see straight. It was more than worth it. Next time we will bring a headlamp for the track bike

I would like to do this trail, but ride it during daylight hours. Looking forward to mtseekers post regarding the gearing and if it made a noticable difference during this ride.

We started at 5:30pm. Only rode in the dark for 20 minutes...

What a great day it was.
The 52 rear worked out great and made all the difference in the world.
The jetting was close enough but off just enough to may kick starting a little harder but it was all good and I think we were as high as may 8500 maybe 9000 ft elevation at some points.
The riding in the dark was a bit tricky and slow going but we got through it with out a hitch and it did include a few small water crossings.
I did take some picts. but it may be next week before I can post them and they are never as good as these guys with the newer I-phones.

Garbo and I had pretty much a full day of single track and I can tell it was as exhausting as it was fun.
By far one of the best rides yet for me.

But the real trick to this ride was watching 40cal ease through everything with that Recluse clutch of his (smooth as silk). Just simply awesome and he is right when he says it's like cheating.

It was a great ride with great guys and I'm looking forward to it again sometime.
My thanks go out to 40cal, acca, and garbo for letting me ride with them. These guys are pretty fast on the trail and always waited when I'd fall a bit behind and great help with the night riding.

But next time instead of coming down trail 40 in the dark I think it would be a bit funner to hit it going up in the daylight.
If you want to ride let's ride and if you want an attitude well we just need to do some more ridding.
Life is good and life is fare.
