TR Diana's Throne Canyon, 05-22-2012
While staying in the Kanab area, we wanted to hike some technical, but beginner-friendly canyon. Ryan is providing a Beta on Diana's Throne Canyon on his web page, which lies close to the area, and sounds like fun.
Parking near the highway, the approach is short (~20 mins), and the road quickly drops into the canyon. We met a group of senior ATV riders, who couldn't believe we were about to hike down this slot...
After a short hike through a wash, and some minor obstacles, we reached a three-tier dryfall, that could be rappelled in two steps plus a downclimb, or bypassed by a single, deeper rappel from a large tree. We decided to take the three steps approach, and quickly passed the dark green stinky puddle (actually the only water we saw in the canyon).
Further down canyon, we faced another rappel section into a large chamber. I had to replace the associated anchor, which was a worn out sling wrapped around a bush, with no ring attached (someone is gonna kill me for that color...)
There's some nice downclimb sections in the canyon, that can be done partner-assisted, and there's also a deadman anchor placed somewhere further down, which is also in good shape.
We very much enjoyed the hike that day, and had a lot of fun! Attaching some pictures.

Thanks for the TR Kryzzle and welcome to the Bogley.
Kinda a nice little canyon in our neck of the woods. Some cute pictures there...
