Valley of Fire
Day 5.
We left Kanab at 8 in the morning and drove to Valley of Fire near Las Vegas, where we were supposed to catch our flights to San Francisco later in the day. As a result, our time was very limited, which is a great pity as the valley is a magnificent place to explore.
Valley of Fire is a very diverse area northeast of LV. It gets very touristy and you may feel a little out of place when coming there from places like CBS or the White Pocket but do not get discouraged. This is a wonderful park that has a lot to offer. We parked our car on parking lot #3 and visited the famous Fire Wave. Then, we veered off the trails and explored on your own.
You might find it useful to use the excellent Steffen Synnatschke’s brochure http://www.synnatschke.de/e-guides/store.php with GPS waypoints and visit some of the off-beaten-path beauties of the Valley of Fire.
