Struck out
Swung for the fences but it was not to be.
Out in the Parowan gap, there is a rock feature, known as the Paiute God "Tobats".
My goal was to align the moon in a way that it appeared Tobats was swallowing the super moon.
I used the photographers Ephemeris to see if it looked possible. It appeared I might have a chance.
We arrived a couple hours prior, the line of the moonrise was to be 113.5 deg. Took out the compass and it appeared possible. The major hurdles would be terrain features such as cliffs and boulder piles that might get in the way, they did!
So I attempted to steady my tripod on loose rock and tall vegetation while suffering the effects of gravities forces pulling me down the hill.
I never got the shots I wanted of Tobats, so on the way in, through the gap, I stopped and took a few shots of the moon just clearing a ridge, somehow, despite manually focusing on 10X, I never achieved focus here either.
Could the spirits of the gap be camera shy? Or did I just suck last night?
Anyway--heres what I got, starting with a daylight shot of Tobats.

Nice effort! As mentioned, you still got some good shots.
