Subway Conditions, 4-24-2012, WARNING!
Did the Subway today. Darn nice in there, among the prettiest I have ever seen it.
There was about 3cfs of flow, which was pretty manageable.
The Bowling Ball has a log on it, which would (might) make it very difficult to get over, and impossible to get under. There was a rope in a ropebag floating around in the pool just before the Bowling Ball. We backed up and climbed up (not easy) and traversed around.
The climbup would be very hard to do without assistance. Soloing not advised. No real anchor at the top, but a reasonable place to sit and provide a rope to those below.
The back-tracking from the bowling ball to the climb-up could be difficult, if the flow level was significantly higher. I suggest just going to the traverse until the log gets chewed up and spit out.
Found a blue fleece jacket. Carried it out. It was heavy. Yours? I am willing to ransom it.
Pics soon.

We climbed up and over the bowling ball without difficulty on April 19, looked a lot worse than it was. That said different water levels could make it much harder.
How much rope was in the bag? We ran into a guy from Colorado that said he got his rope stuck and had to shorten it by about 10'.

I took the bag circulating in the eddy as a bad sign. No idea how much was in it, as we did not go down there. I am not climbing very well these days, so did not consider it wise to descend and determine how hard the climb was.

Nice pics Tom. That bowling ball do look like it has a potential for nastiness, especially if theres no escape under the log, if sucked in.
But I wouldn't be doing my job if I let you off easy with by-passing it.

Nice photos! Just wondered about the North Pole and waterfall - if I am coming from the bottom up is it possible get to this? You have a photo of a Rap after this feature and before the main entrance (from the bottom) - is it possible to get over this?.
Thanks!
