    first descent.. Maui

Ive been eyeing a waterfall for a year and a half or so since I started canyoneering back in Thanksgiving 2010. Ive hiked to the bottom a couple of times and always wondered whats up there. Finally after a lot of practice and training... I set out with my crew for my biggest first descent.

checking Google Earth and judging from the waterfalls in the streams near by, I was expecting 4 or so drops with an average of 200 ft per drop. (the waterfall at the bottom I estimated at 150)

We hiked to the bottom of the last drop to see if it was runnable. Normally its barely a trickle... Not today. Even more reason to descend.

The hike up turned out to be treacherous. Super steep, Loose soft dirt and lots of boulders falling. Turned out to be a hike with an elevation gain of over 1000ft within less than a mile. Finally we reached the ingress point and hopped in... Hoping for the best.

First rappel I did it as a 2 stage rappel as the waterfalls were so close together and 30ft each. The next drop was about a 20ft walk. Super gorgeous canyon so far... next came a 60ft overhang into a confluence. after about a 100ft walk around a bend.. Another drop. Tons of water! this continued on for a total of 14 rappels. I burned through 80+ft of webbing. Very fun and awesome canyon. 14 drops and the average rap was around 50ft. Longest walk... 150ft. Average walk from one drop to the next.... 30ft. Final drop... 150ft.

I will try to retype this better as im using a galaxy tab. also will try to add more pics
