Had a get together friday with the St. George BLM, and discussed climbing activities. If you might be interested please read the info on the new climbing organization facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/groups/southernutahclimbers/

We will have many maps at The Desert Rat for the next 2-3 weeks and the St. George BLM is asking us to mark them up with any and all existing and proposed climbing (and canyoneering) areas so that the new management plan being drafted for the next 20 years will show these areas as existing recreational use areas. This is a great opportunity to gain or retain access to areas by our own desire that belong to us, the general public. So often we are apathetic, and later complain about the Feds. being unreasonable. The Recreational Lands Directors of the St. George Office BLM are being absolutely reasonable and for this I praise them with the utmost respect. Come take a look at the areas and give your input.

Maybe a week or so left for your input. If you are a local climber/canyoneer or even if you aren't local, and have some areas that you currently play at or desire to explore/exploit in the future it will behoove you to come mark up the maps with your desired areas so that they aren't endangered with closure under the newly drafted recreation management plan.
