Looking for a 2-3 day backpacking trip in Utah.
I'm just getting into this kind of adventure so I'm not sure where to start. A couple friends and I are wanting to go backpacking somewhere in Utah end of April as well as in July. The hardest part is I'm not sure what different places allow dogs. I have a black lab who I would have to take with me.
If you know of any backpacking trails or back country that would not be to difficult with a dog please let me know. Also I'd prefer not to have to have him on a leash.

End of April you should be aiming for the desert. There are LOTS of threads here about great locations. Dogs are welcome in most of the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument, and there are lots of cool things to see there...
Mid July you might want to avoid the desert heat and aim for somewhere higher and cooler; the Uintas or somewhere on the Wasatch front, or for more seclusion maybe the Henry mountains or the La Sal Mountains...

Don - could you point me to some threads about places to backpack in the Henrys\LaSals? I'd love to get out there this summer.
