trailhead info for coyote gulch
Hey everybody. Looking for some info to help me plan which trailhead to start from for Coyote Gulch. Going to hike 3d 2n, 6 of us, one car mid-March. Start or end at crack? What are the pros and cons of starting/ending there? Thanks for any info...

a member @ibenick posted a very detailed TR on coyote last year, but since removed it. However, you can find it on his blogsite: http://backcountrypost.com/forum/ind...gulch-loop.65/

Ending there is tough as you climb a large sand hill in full sun!

I can't imagine climbing out at the crack. The first time we left my truck at the end of the road, went in at the crack and climbed out at JHA. Last time we had two trucks and shuttled. We went from the crack to Red Well TH. If you wanted to do the whole thing I would leave the vehicle at the water tank and do a loop from the crack an loop back around. My suggestion, if you have someone who is comfortable climbing to belay the others and you are willing to carry a rope, would be to go in at the crack and out at JHA. You can hike up beyond the arch for the scenery and then return to the arch for the climb out. You will love Coyote Gulch.
