    El Capitan Canyon- Globe, AZ

Took a vacation day last week and took a friend thru his first technical canyon, El Capitan Canyon. It was a fun, short canyon with 3 rappels and a couple of down climbs. It is a bushwhack thru some evil vegetation to get to the drop in point of the canyon and we followed the cow pies to avoid the brunt of the catclaw acacia and cholla cactus, but as with most central AZ canyons, some blood was given as a sacrifice to the canyon gods. We ran into a bull right before entering the canyon that was giving us the stink eye. I was paying so much attention to the one bull, that I didnt notice the other bull until I was a couple feet away from it!

As a rancher, I'm pretty sure those are just cows, not bulls. Sweet TR, though! That canyon looks like a lot of fun!

Is the sports climb mandatory? I get a feeling you can walkout.
    Can anyone clarify.
    Thanks
