North Coyote Buttes Revisited

I returned to Noth Coyote Buttes on January 23. The advance weather forcast was 70% chance of PM Rain/Snow. I alway get a walkin permit and was able to get a permit on Monday for that sameday. It started snowing at ariund 10:45am just as I arrived at the Wave.







Conditions on the way out. I was only at the Wave for 40 minutes before heading out.


The conditions hiking out were quite treacherous and I slipped and dislocated my shoulder on the descent from Twin Buttes. I was able to reset it but I dislocated it again on the final traverse to the point that I could not reset it. Plus I had 3 lost total unprepared Japanese tourist following me out but they kept me focused on getting out of there and not wandering around in shock. The worst part was I couldn't reach my GPS and I couldn't get them to understand that I wanted them to detach it and give it to me so I could use it with my left hand. I will say that they were very thankful once we got back to the trail head. I managed to get my pack off and they help me remove my rain jacket and gloves. From there I drove myself to the ER in Kanab.

Yikes!! Bummer about the injury. You got a few great shots at least. How is the shoulder doing now?
