    Identify Me!

Hello. Just some bored winter time fun here. I have been looking at a canyon for a couple of days now, trying to see if there exists any beta about it out there. So far, no luck. So, to give you guys something to do I will only give you a Google Earth screencapture and a section of a USGS quad and let you figure it out and see if you have any beta for me. Most of you will get it right away.

    Ask the experts

Known As: Not Baptist, South Baptist, Southern Baptist
Canyon Rating: 3B III (4 hours)
    Longest rappel 85'
Exit using the Fault Line Canyon (Same as Baptist Draw/Chute Loop)

It's actually a good canyon to do if you have done everything else in the area. The canyon is most frequently descended by those that can't read a map or navigate and descend the route thinking it is Baptist Draw.

For some really interesting history on that canyon read this thread:

Read through that post. Sad story :( Condolences to the family and everyone involved.

I take it this is not a popular canyon? Any reason why? No good slots? I imagine there has to be a reason for not hearing about it.

How about another one. This one may be a bit more difficult.......

Southern Baptist has a real nice slot section, its just kinda short. And it doesn't have anything special like an arch with a waterfall next to the Anasazi ruin above the hanging garden to put it on anyones must visit list. As I said, its worth doing if you are in the area and have an extra 1/2 day. If I get some free time this week I'll write up the route description and add it to Climb-Utah.com.

Most folks in the area with a 1/2 day do down Baptist and up chute. Those with a full day do down Baptist, down Chute.
