Best 2011 Hiking Pictures
Time to get our annual best of 2011 thread going...
The rules.... only one picture per post and no more then 5 pictures from any one person. The pictures must have been taken in 2011. The pictures do not have to be yours, but proper photo credit must be given and you must have permission to post the photo if it is not yours.
And while it is not required it's always nice if you post a little bit of info along with your picture. What, where when, who and how...

I'll get things rolling... this is a family picture in Cedar Mesa. He had this picture blown up, framed and it's now hanging above our fire place.

Left Fork (Subway) - I havent hiked this since I was a teenager. It was always a fun hike as teen, but as an adult it is soooooo much more than just a fun hike. What an amazing place!

My third time to Coyote Buttes North was my favorite! Weather was perfect, and we had time to explore other parts of CBN (second wave, sandcove, etc)

First time backpacking Coyote Gulch. What an awesome place! Even though my muffler fell off on hole in the rock, and ripped my bogley tshirt this was one of my best trips of 2011!

Looking down Clear Creek and Highway 9 from near the top of Checkerboard Mesa. Good day for photos, the clouds gave lots of contrast.

Watching the arrowhead of light show up on the large serpent petroglyph during the Summer Solstice was a truly memorable experience.

Waterfall coming out of Hook Canyon from the West Rim Trail. When I went up it was entirely dry. Got caught by a rainstorm while on top of the plateau, coming back everything that could hold water was flowing.

Beartrap Falls in Kolob Canyons figured prominently in my adventures this year. I completed the brutal loop around the top of the canyon and rappelled the falls, and then came back on a dayhike down Hop Valley in November to break 700 miles hiked in 2011.

Kolob Canyons, with Gregory Butte and Timber Top Mountain, from the top of Langston Mountain. Quite the bushwhack to get up to the top. Took me probably a full minute of looking at the shadows to realize I was looking *down* on Kolob Arch on the right.

Fall colors in Mystery Canyon on the rappel sequence descent from Flagpole Mountain. Such a unique adventure, and very exciting. This is on a very narrow ledge above the hundred foot rappel in the sequence. I've already watched my partner's backpack plummet to the bottom of the canyon.
