It was a good year. I didn't die."What's the weather gonna do?" is a question asked by ninnies. The answer is obvious; it'll do whatever it damn well pleases, whenever it damn well pleases. It doesn't care if you're tired or 20 miles from the nearest shelter or only wearing a T-shirt. It has better things to do. Storms to brew, winds to whirl, that sort of thing.

Me sitting on big Murray's shoulders while Jenny eases over the edge of the big pothole. My job was to guide her legs into Juds arms who easily caught and lowered her safely to the ground. Awesome! It's nice having a 95lb lady and two former football players on your canyon team!

Cosmic Ashtry
While not a technical canyon it was taken during Saddle Fest 2011 (May 2011) between doing canyons in the Escalante area. If you take the direct route you suddenly come upon this geologic marvel (created by wind??) as you crest a ridge and it appears below you. You ask as you peer into the abyss, "is that muddy water or sand?"

Heaps - We were not perfect!
While cleaning up our ropes at the bottom of the last rap in Heaps we realized that we had left a rope at the top. Oooops! The Emperor quickly rigged a haul system (not sure of the advantage Tom established) and our gorilla, Parker, quickly ascended up the waterfall to retrieve the rope (well not so quickly) with assistance of the haul team. Moral of the story: never pull your rope until you are sure of what's below you or to ensure you have all of your equipment.
