Ski tour -- Mill-D North Fork to Powder Park
Trip Date: 11-20-2011
I decided to try and get some turns in on terrain that has a minimum of avalanche danger. A few other groups I met alone the way mentioned that they had left their skis home and decided to go on snowshoes figuring that there wouldn't be enough snow. They were only partially right.
Rocks and most dead fall was covered by the snow, however the bushes were not. The sides of ridges that were not north facing were covered with thick bushes. There are a few areas of powder park that could be skied, but we picked a north facing ridge across from powder park were the snow was deeper.
Tail heading towards powder park before trail splits at the sign.
Looking east across steam before trail splits.
Looking south east across steam before trail splits.
Looking north towards the ridge line that makes up powder park.
