reposting previously attached photographs
hey beech,
i was chatting with acca about reposing and displaying a photo in a post that's already been uploaded to bogley and is an attachment in a previous post.
there is a particular behavior that i can imagine might not be straightforward to all bogley users. specifically if you copy the image location of the attached photo on bogley, you need to deselect the box "Retrieve remote file and reference locally," otherwise you get an error.
i was curious if it would be difficult to modify this so that if the url has a bogley prefix, then it automatically recognizes that it's a local file and, instead, ignores the fact that the box is selected.

hmmm, good point. I guess I never used it that way. An easier way to copy an image is to skip the whole url thing, and to just right click and copy, then paste. It should drop the whole image right into the post.
Otherwise I'm just using the "IMG" tags.
Let me give it a try here just to make sure...
OK so that worked even with your avatar, just right clicking, copy, and paste. No input of url needed. This is how Scott P started copying his Trip Reports from summitpost instead of rewriting them he'd just copy the whole post and it's worked pretty good.
I'll look into the original question though and see if I can disable that by default.
Thanks.
EDIT, I used IE9 for this. Other browsers may act differently.

thanks, beech.
the copy and paste is definitely a useful method.
i guess my experience has been that if i use the [img] tags they often work and but sometimes don't, though i don't quite understand why that would be the case (maybe it is browser? timestamp of the attachment? no idea). i tried the tags yesterday and it didn't display the figure (though it works for the same figure today). i'll have to test it more thoroughly to understand this issue further (maybe user error).
anyway, my thought was mainly that if a subset of users don't know (or think of) these alternate methods, it'd make it easier for them if that error was disabled.
i know you put a lot of time into the software so thanks for looking into it!
