    Echo Canyon

A few of the crew headed down to Zion and hit Echo Canyon last Friday. While it doesn't have as much water as it did when we were there a couple weeks ago, there was still a lot of water in it, and there were several pools that could be jumped safely. The water was all sorts of cold, and also still pretty clean in most places, which is awesome. This canyon is also fun because it has pretty good tourist exposure, which means that you get to look like a superhero and blow a bunch of peoples' minds, something that we also enjoyed. Overall, I've now put Echo on my list of favorite canyons, and I look forward to going back in the future! We also went down lower Echo for a little bit and fixed our ropes so we could come back. Not really worth it, IMHO, unless you really enjoy ascending ropes. Here are a few pictures, I'll post a couple more when Anthony finally gets them to me.

This look on Gavin's face is priceless.

We went through Echo the day before you did. I was surprised by how cool it was and don't know why it is not more popular. (I'm not complaining). We did Das Boot/Subway the day before, and I thought Echo was every bit as fun as Das Boot, if not more so. Definitely something I would return to do again.

FWIW: I consider Echo to be the most underrated canyon in Zion and its one of my favorites.

Lower Echo is really good, but it is a pain in the patootie. It is more like Pine Creek than like Middle Echo. It is helpful to know that using the bolts makes the jugging much more difficult.
