Utah vs. Washington Grab-a-Grand

So apparently I get a chance to embarrass myself in front of 50,000 people

.

I got a call yesterday from the U of U Credit Union that I was picked to be the contestant in their Grab-a-Grand contest!

For those of you who go to the games (or don't for that matter), this is the event that takes place during one of the game breaks where someone goes out onto the field and tries to catch 3 punts launched at him/her. Each ball is worth a certain amount. 1st ball is $250, 2nd ball is $250 and the final ball is worth $500. If I miss all 3 I will still get $100. In addition, I receive 2 tickets to the game, which means my girlfriend and my buddy's wife can join us since we already have 2 season tickets. I also get to keep the jersey that I have to wear for the contest! Sounds like a win-win to me.

I think the last time a threw around a real football was probably high school, and who knows if I ever tried to catch a punt.

Anyway, for those of you who will be at the game, during the 3rd quarter break, enjoy watching a fellow bogleyite face plant on the turf! Wish me luck...I could use $1000!!!

As a football coach I tell my kick returners to..... attack the ball, watch it into your hands, don't be a pussy and you will do great....

Don't care about football in the slightest, but hopefully there is a youtube vid you can post for us to see. I would be really interested in watching that. I hope you catch all 3 balls man. YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Well, I caught 1 of 3 for $250. Better than nothing! First ball bounced off of me, 2nd ball I caught, 3rd ball I was 1 step too far in and it hit my chest, bounced in the air and i turned trying to grab the rebound. Ended up face first on the turf! Oh well, valiant effort. Was a cool experience though. Got to watch the Utes blow the game (the entire 3rd quarter) from the sidelines. Carrie attempted to take video and photos at the same time (by my request) leading to some shaky video from the cell phone. Got some great photos though!
