Snowbasin to Wheeler - Wed Night

Meeting at the BOTTOM of Wheeler Canyon at 5:00 pm. We need to be done and back down at the bottom of Wheeler by 7:30, yes it is getting dark by then. We probably won't have much time for climbing up to Coldwater Canyon overlook or Sardine Peak. You're welcome to start earlier and meet up with us later.

    Wednesday Sept 21

We will be SHUTTLING (yes that's right you over achievers) up to the Lower Snowbasin parking lot.

The colors should be starting to change, should be a great ride.

Here's the map from last week, the start and end points are the same, but not the climbing:

So, you are going to start at the upper snowbasin parking lot and going down to the bottom of wheeler and then shuttle back up for another round or two, or are you going to climb up to Sardine from the lower snowbasin parking lot?

Well we will be meeting at the bottom of Wheeler at 5:00, probably getting up to the lower Snowbasin parking lot at 5:30, maybe getting on the trail at 5:45 or 6:00.

It is dark in Wheeler at 7:30, so whatever we've got time for in an hour and a half. It might only turn out we've got time to cruise down once. Last week we included Sardine Peak in the trail but it was pitch black by the time we hit Icebox Canyon and we were fumbling around in the dark.

I'd love to meet earlier and add to the ride but not too many people could make it earlier.

...not that I'm sure we'll have a crowd this time either.

I'm trying to get off early so that I can do some climbing. I wanted to climb up to Sardine from Wheeler. I brought the light for the way down, but i can maybe meet you at Snowbasin and do the downhill. Look for the really fast biker LOL. Beech, are you still wearing that black helmet with all the stickers?

We had a fast but eventful ride, I'll post a Trip Report later. My chain broke, and I just decided not to put it back on for the remaining 3 miles of downhill. Then we all learned that a dollar bill can stop a tube from coming out a cut tire sidewall.

But we are wanting to ride this again next week. Earlier though so we can fit some climbing in. It's dark by 7:30, and even earlier when you're in Icebox Canyon.

I didn't get to climb up in time to meet you at Snowbasin. I saw all of you fliying past me going down. I will try for next week.

I hope we yielded to uphill riders

Did you say hi? Was it right near the bridge with the new stair modifications? If that was you I thought you said hi but I wasn't sure.

I got the one Bikeray III. I'm waiting for the battery recall for the MagicShine. It is supposesd to be here before the 15th of Oct. Hopefully, it will get here sooner. I will see how the Bikeray works on the handlebars this weekend, if I get time to ride.

Sombeech organized another fun ride. True to form he shuttled it, and filmed it. Here is a 3 minute movie of the movie maker.
