Meander Canyon 9-6-11
These are from a recent canoe trip down the Colorado from Potash to the Confluence. We actually never made it to Spanish Bottom, stopping just past the Loop @ mile 7. We have done this trip 3 times now, and this was by far the best. Rain every afternoon, sunny and 90 during the day. Hardly any wind. Beaches every 30 minutes on average, and besides 2 tour boats the first day, we saw no one for 4 days. Here are a few shots.

Thanks Randy.
This section is slow and spectacular. Just what we needed.
We were even serenaded by a person with a french horn, from a section of road 1000' above the river below Dead Horse Point. The person was probably a musician from the Colorado Symphony, as members were giving a concert the next day at the grotto. A surreal moment that lasted over 20 minutes while we floated down.

Sweet!!
I would love to do a trip like that. How easy is it to get permits for a private trip down the Colorado in the Canyonlands section? And where did you take out?Sonya

Thanks Sonya.
Easy. The permits are $20/person through the NPS. Then we contracted with Tex's Riverways for the put in at Potash, and they will pick you up with the jet boat on the appointed day anywhere on the Colorado between Potash and Spanish Bottom, 4 miles below the confluence with the Green. We took out about mile 7 on the Colorado. The confluence is mile 0. Tex's is not the only outfit in Moab, but they are the best. Make your reservations way ahead of time.

Love that 2nd photo! The white sand, blue sky and water, red rock, and green vegetation really offset each other!!!
