Neon July 2011

I took a trip down to Neon Canyon with some friends. It was a very long drive for such a quick trip but we had a great time. We left my home on Friday afternoon and began our 6 hour drive to the Egypt trail head. It was dark when we got there. We threw our pads and bags on the ground at the trail head and slept until 5am Saturday morning. It was a beautiful decent into the canyon of the Escalante River. I loved the contrast of the green canyon floor and the red rocks. From the bottom we climbed up onto the rim of Neon Canyon and hike to the top wher we decended into the canyon. This was quit a fun adventure. We encountered nests of Daddy Long Leg spiders, large lizards, frogs, tad poles and even a dying chipmonk. The water was great. There were no swims but it was close to neck deep in sections. I brought a wet suit but never put it on. The final rapell into the Goldan Cathedral was amazing. We drove all the way back to Salt Lake Saurday night. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Interesting lipage on the keeper pot hole. Any issues there? Never get tired of seeing photos of that place.
