Does anyone have current conditions for hiking in this area?

Beautiful Hike! I've done it twice. Planning on fishing? Nice cutts & golden trout if you get lucky. Unfortunately, no current conditions. It is a safe bet though that you'll have some snow to cross.
I just checked on my visit from 3 years ago. It was right about this time. A big snowdrift crossed the road to the parking area. It added a mile to our hike, but cut out tons of people that would have been up there anyway. Good luck.

@vcollins@ssgi.com Also, are you backpacking or just hiking? If you're backpacking, the best spots would be up on the ridge north of the lakes. I think if you go to the point on the 2nd lake, then head up the hill to your left you'll end up at the best spot there for a campsite.
There are even better ones at other lakes in the area, but you're going to the shelf lakes!
