Knotted Rope 5/27/11

A group of us (Me, Chabadiah, little bro Chungy22 and his wife, dad Tntrebel, and youngest brother)went down and did Knotted Rope on the 27th. We were joined by Red and Boots that night to do Quandry on the 28th.

We found our way up the entry of knotted pretty easily. The dry river bed at the trailhead eventually turns into a hiker trail as the bed starts gaining elevation. After going through the pass at the top of the short trail and coming down on the other side we could see the crack to the westish we needed to climb to get to the top and make our way over to Knotted rope.
The views at the top of the 4th class crack are awesome! We found our way over to the head of the canyon and made our way in. The potholes were all full of water and we got our wetsuits on after one of the potholes had really cold water in it. There was no raps or keepers in the canyon at all.
We kept in the water course and did the 300 ft rap at the end of the canyon. There was no webbing there so we built the anchor and went down. The rap was super fun and long.
We measured the rope and we figure that it was atleast 300 feet from the anchor to the ground. We made the anchor go over the edge to help the pull since we had read that it wasn't an easy pull. There is a ledge to the right (ldc) and we would climb down and start from there to put the rapid over the edge. The rope pulled easy with the way we had it set up.
Chungy22's wife was having trouble with her knee when we started the potholes and now it was really hurting her. The exit hike up the river was difficult for her because the water was knee to thigh deep at every crossing. Deeper in a few places if we didn't scout it out well enough. So we lightened up her pack and she put one arm around chungy's neck and he helped her across. Over all it was an awesome day!

Knotted rope is awesome! There are some fun potholes in there, but nothing too bad, even at low water. That last rap looks sweet!

Was the water about the same level when you went?

The last rap was icing on the cake. Super fun rappel.

The water level was quite a bit lower. We didn't have to swim at all and wetsuits were definitely not necessary.
