Southern Nevada caves
I'm looking for any information on caves in the Mormon Mts. The BLM ackowledges the existance but won't give any clues to location. Some long-time residents in my area of Lincoln County talk of a cave that they went to in the 50's (as boy scouts) that had a large main room with big formations. It was described as being in a canyon on the west side of the range. They went on to say that it was a long hike up to the opening but did not require technical skills. The topo maps show a cave in a canyon near the Vigo r/r siding but it's not the one that the locals are referring to. This would be deep in to the wilderness area. Any info would be appreciated.

Well, you might check with your NSS grotto group....which would be the southern Nevada one in your case.

Are you living near a major university? You might check their library for old topographic maps and geologic maps.
Your local public library might have them, too.
