Crawdads @ Strawberry in late September?????
We are planning a doins and was wonering if we could have a good harvest of Dads from the berry that late in the year. Also wondering if there is a way to harvest easily a day before, and then serve up the next night back @ home.
Was thinking about taking a kiddie pool up there and making the salt water purge bath onsite and then cooking them up onsite and then putting on ice to transport home.
Then just once we are home the next day we boil up the potatoes, korn, shrib, sausage, and other goodies and then just add the precook dads to the mix the last 10 minutes or so.
Any ideas? Has anyone done this? The problem is we cant fish for them the day we need them due to a full day of stuff here in the valley before the big dinner.

I found online that you can freeze them after boiling, has anyone done this and did it detract from taste? I am thinking it would be just fine.
I hate that you cant haul them from the lake to your house alive, but I understand the concern of someone playing bucket biology.

The biggest concern I'd have is the meat spoiling. I've heard that it goes bad pretty quickly. Purging & cooking onsite sounds good, then have plenty of ice on hand to get that temperature down so the meat stays good.
Good luck- I'm interested to see how it goes.

I was also wondering if Late September is too late for Dads @ the berry?
