    Moore Area Hiking

A couple of days ago I spent several hours after work hiking around the Moore area looking for some rock art. I found one panel I was looking for, but couldn't find another. Even if I hadn't found any rock art, it would have been a pretty nice little trip out enjoying some fine spring weather for a change.

    Concretions in the canyon floor

Torrey hunting out some rock art

    Some faint and uninteresting petroglyphs

    Wildflowers

    Claret cup

    Petroglyphs

    Molen Reef

    Morrison Formation hills

    A huge balanced boulder

Plant growing in a hole in a boulder

FYI: Castle Country Tourism (or something like that) has just put out a free magazine that locates a lot of great rock art and other attractions (LWH, The Wedge, ect). The magazine also comes with a really nice map of the Swell. I picked up a copy a Grogg's in Price a couple weeks ago. The magazine lists the location of some really great rock art around Moore, including two giant snakes.

Cool, I hadn't heard of this so I searched around and found PDF versions of the magazine and map here: http://www.emerycounty.com/travel/
There are a couple of places I wasn't aware of in there. Thanks, Ice!

They have put out several editions of the travel guide over the last 4-5 years, each one is a little more detailed and refined than the last. If anyone in the SL area would like a paper copy w/map, I've got a few dozen of the most recent release here in Sandy I'd be happy to hand off to you.
