What sports teams are spending the most on players

"Average Annual Salary" represents base player salaries from current or most recently completed seasons from each sport, and excludes endorsements, bonuses, appearance fees and any other source of extra compensation. All figures converted to U.S. dollars.

What #11 the Utah Jazz? 4th highest NBA team and a head of every NFL team and some of the biggest names in sport including Manchester United???

Is that his salary from Ferrari or an endorsement? The figures in the OP are salary alone, and they are the average of their teams. ESPN had Alex Rodriguez and Manny Pacquiao as the 2 highest paid sports players at $32 mill a piece. They listed the top person in each country and the highest paid German was Dirk Nowitzki at just over $17 mill. No Schumacher on the list, so either he doesn't make $40 mill or that's an endorsement which they didn't factor into these stats. I don't know much about racing so I'm curious how he gets all his money?

That was his 2009 salary from Ferrari (Salary, winnings and bonus)...

Last year motorcycle racer Valentino Rossi was paid $35 Milllion.

Motor racing is a little down at the moment in salaries because what a driver is paid has a lot to do with team sponsorship (teams normally sign a sponsor and driver in the same year for the same number of years).... and with the down economy and all.... but normally... motorsports always has 4 or 5 guys in the worlds highest paid athletes.

A-Rod wasn't even in the top 20 of the worlds highest paid athletes in 2010. Pacquiao was number 5 at $38 million.

When NASCAR was doing well Dale Ernhardt and Jeff Gordon were both number 1 at one time.

Guys on team sports seldom lead the list. Golfers, tennis players, race car drivers, ect., usually are top dog. Boxers used to do really well but not any more.
