Grand Canyon: Fishtail Mesa Loop

Heya Bogley--

Posted another one of my old videos to YouTube. This one is from 2008 when I did a loop around Fishtail Mesa in the western part of the Grand Canyon. I went down Kanab Cr., up Jumpup and Kwagunt, over the saddle to Surprise Valley, checked out Thunder Springs and Deer Creek, then down the Colorado and back up Kanab.

It was a good trip, but it was really memorable because as I was getting ready to set out I realized my sat phone didn't work. So, I had to drive back to Kanab to let people know I wouldn't be checking in! Then, after an already late start, I twisted my knee on day two which slowed me down the rest of the trip. Spoiler alert! :) I ended up getting out of the canyon 1.5 days later than I was scheduled and called my parents/girlfriend just after they had alerted the authorities! Whew!

Did a similar trip a few years back....Down to Deer Springs, along the Colorado to Kanab Crk, up to Snake Gulch and out.......very nice trip, Kanab Crk is gorgeous.
