    Fat climber on Independence Monument.

I climbed Independence Monument and just learned that 5.9 is much more difficult than it used to be. It took my two tries and even on try #2 I was quite bumbling and couldn't have done it without the leader. My desk job is killing me slowly. I've been spending long days in the office.

It was still a beautiful climb though and is the highest rock tower (measured from the base) in Colorado.

Brain leading the off width on try #1 on March 26:

Me on P4 on try #2 on April 1. The crux is just ahead, but in the photo, I'm currently on the easiest pitch.

Utah is a very special and unique place. There is no where else like it on earth. Please take care of it and keep the remaining wild areas in pristine condition. The world will be a better place if you do.
