West Canyon
Anybody out there planning on doing West Canyon (lake powell) this summer? From what I've read and the pics i've seen, looks like it has tremendous photographic potential. Obviously we'd have to come in from the lake, so I know there would be the boat rental we'd have to deal with, but just want to find out what interest is out there.

You don't have to come from the lake. I've seen trip reports from those who came in from the south. One of Kelsey's books may discuss this.

That's right, you certainly don't have to do it from the lake. A number of us have done it overland, which in some ways is much simpler and cheaper, with no boat rental. It is perhaps a day longer to do it that way. It is truly a great canyon, and totally worth doing either way.

Yes, I've read Kelsey's description of the overland hike, but I'm also a bit worried about driving those roads out there. It would just seem with at east 4 people the boat cost wouldn't be too bad, but I'd probably be up for doing it from either direction.
