Mesquite, NV to St. George, UT
This was a fun ride over the mountain and through the desert. We ended up riding about 170 miles. We fueled up in St. George and then it was back over the top. There was all kinds of riding terrain and I rode my new KTM hard. So hard that I ended up blowing a fork seal and was only getting 28 mpg. Yep, on the gas!

Thats a fun loop. Dont know if you did it but there is a nice route that goes to a lookout above the virgin river gorge. Im surprised there wasnt more snow. There are some great 4x roads all over the place there. Tracks?

Acca have you got a map of where you went? Sounds like your pumpkin is getting about the same miles per gallon as my 450.

Yep. You guys took the 101 out of mesquite. We typically take the elbow canyon road which is a gnarly 4x4 road, mostly done by 4 wheelers so it's pretty tight and nasty. The 101 is a bigger road but very scenic. We come up out of mesquite to the summit then we typically do the option 1 out and back to a higher summit. Then we continue onto #7 which looks out over the gorge. Sometimes we'll take the option 2 wash all the way down to the freeway. There are some pretty impressive sections in there but one of them can be pretty hard coming back up. Then we continue onto #11 and into Bloomington for gas.
It's a blast to do in the spring when those clay roads are wet. Sometimes the summit gets snow and it can be pure sloppiness up there. Between #7 and #8 I slid right off the edge of a 8' drop on my bike. Crazy.
The two green markers are for a shortcut for the real fire road up there to use when the gate is locked to #6 and #5. There is a sweet little old cabin near #5. I think it's ranger station now. From #2 to #7 is all big pine tree country. The trails are carved dirt (mostly 4wheeler two track) intersperssed with chunks of lava rock and pine needles. Great country.beefcake. BEEFCAKE!
