where do you want to cross at? the water could be high, but i would think it would be low by may, the new diversion dam on the fremont will be sucking away plenty of water by that time... location will matter however.

We want to cross the Dirty Devil to access the canyons.

Why? The best parts of the canyons are in the upper end.

I would suggest coming in from White Roost Stock Trail.

Water for camping shouldn't be a problem in May. Crossing the DD can sometimes be tedious, but it usually isn't that bad even in May.
Utah is a very special and unique place. There is no where else like it on earth. Please take care of it and keep the remaining wild areas in pristine condition. The world will be a better place if you do.

Happy Canyon Narrows will be a superb canyon for you guys to do!

hmm... are you asking specifically about robber's roost canyon? or are you looking for the greater area on the dirty devil and it's side canyons? happy is pretty far down there, and a ways from robber's roost canyon, though it is sometimes referred to as being in "the roost" as an area in general. definitely more remote unless you can get down poison springs road. whereas robber's roost is in the northern part of the dirty devil, and easy to access.

May should be ok. We did it in Mar 02. Rained and running at about 400 cfs. Watch out for the quicksand. Did the route's in Kelsey's book.
