    Mellow slot canyons near Bluff/Moab/Monticello

    Hey all,

    Newbie to the forums here

Just wondering...can anyone recommend a nice day or half-day slot canyon around Bluff/Moab/Monticello for three experienced hikers/climbers, but relatively new to slots?

Looking for something that's relatively dry (chances might be slim this time of year, I guess?), a little wading is OK but we don't have wetsuits. Short rappels off bolts or good natural anchors would be OK.

We're spending a week in Grand Gulch and looking for something to do on the way back home...

    thanks!

What time of year? In warm weather, I would suggest Cheesebox, Fry or Black Hole if you are coming from the Grand Gulch area, but it would be too cold to do those slots without a wetsuit if you are talking about right now.

Instead of heading back home through Moab, you could head back through North Wash (some canyons there are mellow, but many are not). This time of year is good for those canyons.

Near Moab, the Onion Creek slots are nice:

Utah is a very special and unique place. There is no where else like it on earth. Please take care of it and keep the remaining wild areas in pristine condition. The world will be a better place if you do.

hey thanks for the info Scott. Sorry -- we are hitting up the Gulch next week then the following weekend we'll be looking for a day trip in the area before heading back home to ABQ.

    I'll check those out...
