    Inflatable snowshoes

Anyone else think these look like they'd be fun to try out?

I like the idea.. think they could be a little longer though :)
Tacoma Said - If Scott he asks you to go on a hike, ask careful questions like "Is it going to be on a trail?" "What are the chances it will kill me?" etc. Maybe "Will there be sack-biting ants along the way?"

if they were larger you could walk on water.
But if I agreed with you, we would both be wrong.

Those are a pretty sick idea. The only problem I see is not having a built in crampon for traction. This could get dicey if you hit a wind exposed crust or on a steep with poor snow bonding.

Here is the scoop on inflatable snowshoes. If you want to stomp post holes in the snow then by all means get yourself some of those little foot or small foot inflatables. But if you want a full size inflatable snowshoe then check out the websit "airlitesnowshoe" . These things work. I used a pair of the prototypes to pull a 12 1/2 foot Christmas tree out of the deep woods in rough terran covered with over 5 feet os snow. I don't mean hard packed snow either. A real life saver in most situations i'm sure. Check em out, their cool enough and tough too.

Sorry, I had an extra "E" I didn't know what to do with so I thought
I'd throw it in there. Ok, honestly, I saw it just as I hit submit.

Goldmizer--thanks for mentioning the Airlite snowshoes! Those could certainly be a good addition to an emergency kit. Or for use on deep snow in relatively level terrain.
