    Nice place !

I have never heard of a Fantasy Canyon in Arizona. Where is it ?

These rocks look like the ones in a place called Little Finland or Hobgoblins playground in Nevada (south of Mesquite)

You choose to call it Fantasy Canyon and I was told the location of Little Finland by a ranger when in 2004 I was looking for the location of the picture "Back of beyond" of Michael Fatali that was not there (as was thinking the ranger) but was in the real Fantasy Canyon near Vernal in Utah.

yeah, Little Finland is a beautiful place. I like to camp nearby and explore the area. These fantasy creatures can be really interesting.
In December 2009 I was a little bit disappointed, there was so much white stuff - like washed out salt or minerals - on the ground.
    Anyone knows what it is?
Haven't seen this during all my summer visits

I met a local who often goes in this area. He told me that the white stuff appears every Winter (more or less depending of the year) and that it almost desappears during Spring (during my last visit there in late May 2009, there was just one small area with still some white stuff, see picture below). He couldn't explain this, he just said that is was natural and that it should not ne related with pollution.

    Hi Philippe,

yeah, this is exactly the white stuff I found there in December. I was wondering, I never saw it before. But the answer of the local makes sense.
    Thanks for this.
I was visiting the area shortly after you in June 2009 and didn't see any of the stuff.
When I came back in December 2009 a lot of the area was covered with the residue.
