    Quickie in the Snow

We had our first real snow of the season today, so after work I took the family on a short 4-wheeler ride from Price to Kenilworth and back. It was about 17 miles and took 2.5 hours, and it was a blast!

Almost two-thirds of the ride was on gravel roads (including where we cheated a bit and rode the pavement for a couple of miles). Some of the roads are normally very rocky and slow, but with the snow covering everything we were able to go pretty quickly over them. Near Kenilworth I hit a spot in the road that looked flat, but there turned out to be some deep ruts that had filled with water and frozen over, then the water drained away leaving a layer of ice on top, then it all got covered in snow. I hit one of the ruts (luckily at low speed) and my ATV just tipped over and nearly threw my son and me off. The only bad thing about the entire ride is that the snow was of the pellet variety instead of flakes, and getting pelted by those things at 30 MPH sucks!
