Thread: My next handgun

    My next handgun

My old man pointed this out to me. I'm thinking it would work for a CCW & be a LOT of fun to go bunny hunting with.

Of course, if yohu wanna stick with the cheap .22LR ammo, you could always go with the:

That is a very poor choice for a CCW. .22 magnum is not a sufficient self defense round. These also have poor reviews as far as reliability.

I haven't read up on the reviews as of yet, but I know the .22 Mag comes in a ballistic tip now. With 30 rounds, if the handgun were reliable & accurate, I'd feel better with this than a 9mm.

This is some very dangerous thinking. This thinking is akin to slaughtering a cow with a set of knitting needles. You would be better off using a hammer for self defense. You should really look into getting some proper training.

Sorry dude. I with Glockguy on this one. A .22 Mag is no where close to what you want for a self defense round. .22 rounds are for killing birds, squirrels, rabbits, etc... not people. If you'd like, I can recommend a very good company that will provide you with some very good weapons training.

.40 or .45.. settle for nothing else for personal protection.

I have heard that the .22 has killed more people than any other cartridge. I have 2 .22 magnums. One is a rifle and the other a derringer belly gun. The .22 magnum is quite potent. For personal protection I would want my first shot to be a 40 or 45 caliber. The fire coming out of the barrel on a 45 would be enough to deter me let alone receiving a hollow point.

Heard is the key word here. It is an internet legend. When it comes to self defense, the goal is not to deter, but to stop the threat. If you have a reason to shoot someone you shoot until the threat stops, not to try and scare them with a frightening muzzle blast.

Back to the subject, each person (much like clothing) will have their own preference as to the make/model of handgun. I prefer Springfield XD, others prefer Glock, S&W, etc. You won't know what you'll like until 1) you put it in your hand and get a good fit and 2) see the sticker price.

That 22mag looks cool. I bet it would be a fun plinker. If you get it I would like to give it a try sometime.
I had a Kel-Tek P11 way back when, the gun shop told me how great it was and I liked the compact size. It was a poor handling and shooting gun, worse than the S&W Sigma if you can imagine! I don't typically sell guns but I sold that one. I can't see how they could screw up a 22 handgun, hopefully it will be sweet.

I really like the Springfield XD, they handle great. It reminded me of a Sig Sauer but half the price.

Although if at all possible I carry my Kimber .45, when I need something smaller I like my little Ruger LCP .380. And I know a few other companies have come out with compact .380s since the Ruger started selling like hotcakes.
