    White Rock

Starting in Perry the Perry Canyon trail has recently been punched all the way to Grizzly Peak and beyond. At 1.4 miles up you can decide to either climb the 4,000 feet to Grizzly Peak or head to White Rock for a more leisurely 2,000 foot climb. The trail to White Rock heads under the tree.

It is 4.8 miles to White Rock from the parking lot. Expect short steep climbs, flowing water, some shade, some heat in the afternoon on this west facing trail, views of Willard Bay, and many switchbacks. Stan who is primarily responsible for this trail loves switchbacks. Most of the switchbacks on the big trail to Grizzly peak are numbered on nearby trees or rocks. There are close to 50 switchbacks on the way to White Rock (and more than 100 to Grizzly Peak). Stan fixing a couple of switchbacks to be more ridable:

These pictures are from early November, 2010 when the weather was just right, the trail was just damp, and the leaves were just wonderful.

The Hogback, hard to see from highway 89 but pretty impressive from the trail.

The trail on the way back down.

The trail extends a little ways beyond White Rock and may eventually be brought back down to form a loop or head south to Weber County. Stay tuned.

Thanks, I've been hearing about this trail for a couple of years, I haven't seen very many pictures of it yet. Maybe I'll get some time to ride it this winter.

Look on utah mountain biking dot com and go to the Ogden trails and find the one for Perry Canyon trail.
