New to Utah - Need Outdoor Advice for Cedar City Area
Hello all Outdoor Enthusiasts, I just moved here with my fiancee and we love hiking and exploring new places. We are looking for some awesome places to check out that are not far from the Cedar City Area (where we live).
If anyone knows of some great places please let me know!
Thanks :D

You've moved to the right place to be outdoors!
Cedar Mountain! In 30 minutes you can be up on top-- fishing, hiking, biking, x-country skiing, snowshoeing... watching the leaves change colors.
My wife and I moved to this area (just south of you, in Toquerville) about 5 years ago. We started by going to a book store and purchasing two Falcon Guides:
1)Hiking Zion and Brice Canyon and 2) Mountain Biking Utah
For us, that was a great start. We moved on to Tom's Canyon Guide... but maybe you'll want to take a class from Rich Carlson there in Cedar City first...
Have fun.

Welcome to Bogley and to SW Utah. Both those websites are great and they're some of what I used when I moved here. I'd pick up some maps, too. I use the Nat Geo "Trails Illustrated" maps and supplement with BLM maps. The Desert Rat in St George has all you need for the outdoors, including maps. Bo Beck runs the DR and is a wealth of knowledge, he's here, too.

Ashdown Gorge, perhaps? I never done it, but it's been on my list for a long time now.

I use to live in Cedar. All the current recommendations are good. Other than the things that haven't been mentioned I'd also recommend mt. biking on Cedar Mountain trails, Brian Head the local ski resort, Snow Canyon stuff is good when the weather in Cedar becomes colder.

You are in the peak bagging thread. I had not noticed. I have a few peaks, but you should pick up Cortney Purcel's book. The man likes to bag those peaks!
