Snow Basin Green pond to Last chance to Elk Ridge to Becker

    Sept 16. 2010

I rode up at snow basin today. The weather was great! Warm but breezy. I rode from lower parking on maples #13 then to Green pond Loop#11. I took the right fork staying on Green Pond Loop#11. I turned left at Last Chance Loop#10. So far the climb wasn't too bad. I turned left at Needles#1 Thats when the climb started. Its pretty steep in some areas. I started thinking it was time to start heading down. I took Elk ridge trail#9 which was more of a double track. It connected to Becker Trail#8 which was fire road. After a bit of down hill I found Porcupine#3. That was a dowhillers dream! That trail connected back to Needles#1 and then Back to Maples#13.

The leaves are starting to turn, so I tried to take some pics of them. I also took some pics of the signs so I could remember where I went.

good old snowbasin, next time you should try starting from the greens pond parking lot then riding greens up for a warm up, jump on last chance, and the fork stay right, once you crest the small hill and have the choice to go down by the pond on maples turn left and have a short climb and take Porcupine up and follow porcupine untill you get onto the uper needles and eventually make it to the upper lodge, great views and a very rewarding downhill. Great pics and I am sad to see that summer is slowing coming to an end!

Two wheels are better than four, keep the rubber side down.
