Grand Staircase Escalante NM Road Report

    August 26 Road Report

Cottonwood road is IMPASSABLE! There is a small lake on the road about 7
miles north of Hwy 89 that is swallowing cars. Vehicles/visitors have
created a bypass going around it, but that is frowned upon as they are
causing damage to the resource. Please do not send vehicles through
Cottonwood road as a shortcut between Hwy 12 and Hwy 89.

How deep is the lake? Could you get through it with a lifted jeep with a snorkel?

You'd have to call the Visitor Center and ask. I'm sure they'd enjoy it!

A little rain across the Southland today, should not have amounted to much anywhere.

Any updates on road conditions in Escalante? I'm looking to go to Spencer Canyon/Red Breaks, Egypt 3, and/or Little Death Hollow this week.

I do regular updates on the Canyon Collective site, but you can always call the V Center, and they could email you the current report.
