    Wind Rivers

    1) Any recent trip reports? (I love reading them and seeing the pictures).

    2) Anyone have any late summer WR trips planned? (I'm heading up in early Sept. with some friends to make a run at Gannett).

    3) Anyone have any opinions about a Gannett route? (I've seen several options on summitpost).

    Thanks,

    Mike

No info from me but I sure would love to see your trip report when you come back! I really need to do the winds but I don't know enough about them. Considering a trip this year but probably won't happen until next.

August is perfect for a canoe camping trip up the Green River Lakes. I'll have a TR next week for ya.

    Shan,

Cool, I look forward to hearing your TR. I've never been up to the GRLs. I read in your other post that you don't want to take your dog. I always thougth it would be good to have a dog to help warn or bears of scare them off. I never thought about them attracting them. Nothing like a little bear-a-noia to keep you away in your tent at night! =)

    Sombeech,

Thanks for posting the '06 TR. I glanced at it, but will look at it in more detail (I guess it was bumped up due to a question. Cool pics. Love the macks!)

You just need a bear hunting dog like an Akita:

I'm heading up to Titcomb basin from Aug 26 to Sept 2nd. Been up there several times but only tried Gannet once... Didn't make it.

No, that's just one I found on Google image search. My dog is an Akita mix with strong Akita tendencies though... the kind of dog that lives to protect the family, nothing else matters to them. They were originally bred to hunt bears and are genetically one of the closest dogs breeds to wolves. This is my dog, Nikita.

Cute dog! I love that your dog has its own sleeping bag.
