Looks like this needs to be filed in the epic trip category. Amazing stuff! Several great photos in the bunch...the humpback whale...wow.

That is a lot of fun.
I have been to the Taku lodge a ton. My friend's family (which is now left out of the history of the Lodge) actually made the Lodge what it is today. I love that area!

Thanks. It was just astounding to see all of that first hand, especially from the float plane. And it sure felt epic when I was gorging on the buffet and getting room service!
Now that I'm officially in love with Alaska I'm going to have to plan something that doesn't involve cruise ships and thousands of tourists. Those little towns are just too small for that many people.

Glad you had a great trip and you were extremely lucky with the weather! Trust me, it's usually not like that. The cruise ships bring both good and bad into those towns, but there is definitely a whole different vibe without the ships. Hope the information I provided helped.
