    Please Critique my website! :)

    http://www.zion-national-park.org/ New Look

    http://wwww.zionnational-park.com old look

I am giving my website a face lift.

Please critique. I want to catch all the problems before I make it live. I started working on this a couple of years ago, then dropped it. I have time to work on it again right now.

The old link doesn't work for me.

I really like how you provide directions for the East Entrance, but perhaps change the title to "Directions to East Entrance of Zion National Park" since there are several entrances.

The photo caption on the front page says it's Angels Landing, but I'm seeing Orderville Canyon in the photo.

Links all seem to work. A slightly darker font might be nice.

    Website looks great.

The older I get, the darker and bigger I do like the font! I agree. As I said, I was 2 years younger when I did it. lol

Thanks for the input and ideas!

I second the darker slightly larger font. Looks good.

I like the very readable color choice with the white background and black/green text. I think the old yellow/orange background creates more strain on my eyes. The font for the buttons and Zion NP title on the left is pleasant, but perhaps a bit feminine. Not necessarily bad, just sayin'

I find the buttons (Zion, Hotels, Camp, Hike, etc.) a little confusing as compared to the words below which are also links (Zion NP, Lodging, Camp, Hike, etc.).

All in all keep it going. It's a great site you have!

So is the new one going to be a front-end for your other pages? Or do you plan on adapting your new theme for your old pages?

Very nice web page. Where I expected to find flaws, I could find none. It is actually one of the best web pages I have ever seen when it comes to organization of information and completeness. Kudos Tanya.

Wow! That makes me feel great and energized to work on it. I am an organization freak! While I love to give out free Zion info, the main focus still must be on renting my hotel rooms - but in a back door sort of way. I like to be more subtle and hate commercial sites. I hope my site reflects that.

Yes, every page on the site will look similar. I did the lodging pages a couple of years ago, then got busy doing other things and have not been on the internet much.

I think for a front page, it is too busy; too much text and too many links. It makes it a challenge to find my way. I would cite http://www.apple.com/ as an example of an uncluttered front page.

That is all done for google. Sad as it is, that part must stay. Every word, every link I wrote on that first page is for google. I worked hard getting all that to fit. lol

Thanks for the input though. Anything else?

I like the new design over the old.

personally I like contrast. I also would third a darker larger font.

It must be my female side that liked it lighter, but being able to read it is very important AND I do like to please the men. Heck with the females.

Don't do it. They think that way because of testosterone and we all know what a disturbing chemical that is...

OK I understand why. What about two homepages? This one to catch the search engine ranking and a less cluttered condensed version home page for when the visitor clicks to go to your home page with the option to expand out to the other?

Ha ha ... you are funny Spooky. but so right.

2 home pages is a google no no too. Sorry.

I don't know much about making websites, but I do know SEO and how to get things ranked. That's what I am good at.

I actually know nothing about SEO. However, Google "Richard Barron" and see who is the first hit.

Yes, I realize that you need all that stuff to compete with other sites. I just think it's cool that my site is Google-friendly.
