Spam vs Public Service
Moderator Voice edit: This thread was split from another thread for going off topic. The original thread can be found here:

Do you get the topping out cert. if we do the classes?
I am trying to make it work so that I can be there.
On a side note, I noticed Rich posted this instead of Spidey, politics

The man thong is wrong.

Not sure what you mean by politics ??
Steve and Clark talked to someone at the Utah National Parks Council and were told the ACA can issue the certificates. We don't normally include top rope climbing in our canyoneering curriculum, but will in an optional field day if enough people tell us they want the certificate.Rich Carlson, Instructor

Always one dumbass in the group that doesn't get it or wants to stir the pot.... so I'll talk slower so Jaxx can keep up....
There is a big difference between a member who has over 200 posts and provides valuable content and a member who at the time had less then 5 posts and was using the site to pimp an outside interest.
The rules are here:
http://www.bogley.com/forum/showthread.php?38666
Keep this thread on topic or I'll split the spam/public service debate into it's own thread.

There was some bitching last time spidey posted an Out 'n Back training opportunity. Something about him spamming. I really don't see the difference between that and this (and would argue that neither are spam), but you know me; I always say out of the political arguements.

And back on topic; I'm double booked that night. Not sure which event to back out of now...

So.... bottom line.... if you want to promote an outside interest that is related to Bogley that's cool..... just participate in the forums. Consider it free advertising for providing a value to our members.
Yeah and a FREE Canyoneering clinic, offered to members of the BOGLEY canyoneering forum has no value to said members.
My post count at the time I posted it was around 20, maybe now with 30 plus it would stick. I doubt it. The next time I post about a free clinic it's going to be a how to wear a Banana Hammock clinic. At least then when it get's deleted there will be a reason. Shane you should at least pick an arbitrary # of posts that permits you to provide free canyoneering clinics to canyoneers. Then tell us what it is. I'm looking for a little transparency and continuity here.

Yo, Steve, you can have some of my post count. I have way to many and I am trying to figure out how to reduce my count so as to show that I have a life.
BTW, you are up to 40.

And FWIW - The new software will allow us to undelete a post or thread.... the old software didn't allow that option..... so now if a mod does something that is unpopular we have the option of correcting the situation...
Whatever the mod's do always upsets someone.... I even received a PM bitching about spliting all this whinning out of Rich's professional and informative ACA leadship thread.... I was told I was picking on Rich because I split the whinning and spam talk out....

first time post (originally 7 different threads) on a $150 wilderness first aid course
second time posting $150 wilderness first aid course then starts harassing a long time bogley poster who asked if this was spam
first post for cheap Nikes
above threads are considered not SPAM but informative
Spidey, 20 posts prior, legendness known in the community (at least the regular forum posting community), cost of ACA work shop he was teaching FREE = SPAM?
FYI I agree with the split of the debate to a new thread. I'm glad Rich's thread is allowed.

Bitching sure, now, but at the time you split it 'all this whinning' was the first 5 posts in this thread. Jaxx making a joke, Rich asking what was meant by the joke, you warning people to stay on topic and myself and jman answering Rich's question about what the joke meant. The only bitching in those first 5 posts is done by you. Of course whatever the mods do is going to upset people. Heavy handed arbitrary editing of the conversation to suit one's own (what are you doing?) will upset people. Even more so when the immoderate moderator shows up and just starts calling people whinny little bitches! WTF?

By the way Don, the way to deal with the Banana Hammock bunching is this. They sell a mild spray on adhesive. You can pick it up at any beauty supply even Wal mart. Lift up the back of the Hammock give a quick spray to the butt cheek, and press the material onto the adhesive with your hand. This should give you at least 12-18 hours (depending on activity of course) of bunch free bliss with your banana hammock. I hope that helps.
