    Ward Charcoal Ovens, Ely Nevada

Me and the family camped near these ovens last week, in the Humboldt national forest, Willow Creek Campground, 15 minutes South of Ely Nevada

There are some in Piedmont, Wyoming too. I will have to dig out some pictures and post them.

Cool. Up until a few months ago, I'd never seen one... and I've only seen the one in Southern Utah... it's on Silver Reef Road on the way to Oak Grove. At less than a mile, it's a nice hike to take little kids on.

    Thanks for sharing pictures!

Cool. Those things remind me of the high priced igloo makers.

Those ones in Ely are cool. Is the area open at night? I bet you could get some awesome shots of those things with the right night sky above them.

And put some lanterns in them so that you get, albeit fake, firelight coming from them. I have so got to learn how to use a digital camera the way they were intended.... other settings besides "Auto".
